All settled in. After a rushed visit in Calgary with Uncle Richard (see pic) we hit Lethbridge and spent a really great morning with an old friend that I hadn't seen in a long time. Cutting that visit short too, we made off for our first destination - Great Falls where we had to make a beeline for a Verizon store (after opening up the laptop and driving around the city looking to score an open network so we could Google the number). It took a while to get things working but we're now completely hooked up and hopeful that the connection will hold on the Playa at Ivanpah.
Nothing remarkable to report as it was really just another day of driving but that said I guess it's worth noting that I think I've got the hang of driving this big windbreak of a motorhome. Made it through customs with barely a blink....makes me wonder why I was so paranoid. Moreso - I managed across with at two cases of Canadian Beer to share once we hit the Playa. The rest of the shareables will have to be of the American variety but there's nothing wrong with that.
I'm going to spend the evening relaxing with one of said Canadian Beers and reorganize the kites that are stashed in the loft bed. Stow the Canadian WiFi gear and plan tomorrow's journey. Hoping to hit Skyline either for the end of the day tomorrow or early on Monday so we can get to the Playa for Tuesday. Better go start seeing if this is doable.
Hopefully as we settle in fully I can get Kathy onto this whole blogging thing so she can give you her side of the story. You know, the side that says I'm driving too far, too fast, too long ; )
And oh yeah - get this! So we met Richard at the Roadking/Flying J in Calgary because it was easy access for me in the big old RV. And what do I see dead center on the paper place setting in front of me? Kites on sale!
Kathy refused to believe it was because of the "universe".....
